Close call for Norwegian landslide - 12 June 2020

A collection of cabins has been pulled into the sea by a freak landslide in Norway.

With a length of half a kilometre and depth of 160 metres, the portion of land was described by a Norwegian engineer as the biggest to ever break off in the municipality.

Alerted by a smoking power cable, Jan Bakkeby evacuated to the safety of a hilltop, from which he filmed his home being swept away on his phone.

A range of emergency services attended the scene, although thankfully nobody was injured or required rescuing. The only rescue was of a dog, lifted out of the sea by a helicopter.

The circumstances which caused the incident remain a mystery.
