Gallagher brothers reunite - 21st July 2025
Cardiff, in Wales, has attracted an international crowd for the first Oasis concert in almost 16 years. Band members and brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher, had given up making music together following a number of fights.
This history didn't stop their reunion tour tickets selling out in record time. While many fans grew up with Oasis in the 1990s, the band has a younger audience as well.
Dan Mcatee: "Well, I think everyone's ecstatic. All the old fans will get to see them again. The young fans have never seen them before together. I think everybody is going to be top tier, ten out of ten."
As soon as tickets went on sale on 31 August 2024, fans were disappointed. After they'd spent hours in a virtual queue, tickets which were advertised for £135 plus an administration charge, had jumped to £355 plus charges.
This method of selling tickets is known as 'dynamic pricing'. In other words, as demand rises, so does the ticket price. Many fans thought that this was greedy and, although this sales method is popular with tour organisers, artists can prevent its use. In this case, the Gallagher brothers stated that they hadn't been aware of how the tickets were sold.
Now, much of last year's anger has been replaced by excitement for fans like father and son, Brad and Eddie Owens.
Brad Owens: "I can feel the emotion a bit now, getting here and with the vibe and the buzz and everything. You know, and I think it's just going to be the same for everybody. It's, as he said, it's biblical, you know. And I think it is in the true sense of the word."
Eddie Owens: "Oasis means a lot to a lot of people. It's, it's good to see them back, sort of - you know, out for the fans as much as anything, you know. It's definitely, yeah, it'll be, it'll be emotional. It'll be emotional."
Friends Amy, Polly and Makala saw Oasis play together for the last time in 2009. They're keen to see them once again.
Amy Williams: "I think probably most people are going to cry."
Polly Bainton: "Well, we just spoke to someone on the train, who said - what did she say?"
Amy Williams: "It was monumental."
Polly Bainton: "Historic."
Amy Williams: "Historical."
Makala Zakorova: "It's like Christmas day."
Amy Williams: "It's like Christmas day, yeah."
